01 The "Bandwidth" of VST
For VST and spectrum analyzers, various bandwidth indicators are crucial because they directly determine the performance and application range of the equipment.
Signal generation and analysis bandwidth(Analysis Bandwidth)
Significance: Determines the signal frequency range that the device can process in a single operation and is suitable for broadband signal generation and analysis.
Definition: The maximum bandwidth that a VSA can acquire and process signals in "real time".
Significance: Determines the device's ability to process real-time signals and is applicable to scenarios such as frequency-hopping signals and dynamic signals.
For example:
If a spectrum analyzer has an analysis bandwidth of 1 GHz and a real-time bandwidth of 160 MHz, this means:
-- It can analyze signals in the 1 GHz range in one scan, but may miss some fast-changing signals;
-- With a bandwidth of 160 MHz, it can capture 100% of all signal events without missing any transient phenomena.
For applications that require monitoring of fast-changing signals (such as frequency-hopping signals), real-time bandwidth is an even more critical specification because it ensures that no signal events are missed.
